Content

The course content is based on the international IREB syllabus for the certificate “Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering — Foundation Level”. You will acquire a solid understanding and practical knowledge of the basic concepts and methods of requirements engineering and will learn basics and best practices that apply equally to all domains; e.g. embedded systems, systems critical to security or classic information systems. Great emphasis is placed on applying and practicing widely used methods for the development, documentation and testing of requirements.

This course lays the foundation of knowledge needed for other, more advanced training such as CPRE Advanced Level “Requirements Elicitation and Consolidation” and “Requirements Modeling”.

Goals

Upon completion of this course, you will have gained an understanding of the basic motivation for requirements engineering and its role in the overall context of a project. You will have a sound knowledge of how to elicit, analyse, specify, consolidate, document, test and manage requirements. You will also be familiar with the main methods for each of these activities and with criteria for selecting the best approach for any given project.
